Anaconda



Anaconda is one of the world’s biggest snakes. It is a non venomous reptile found in tropical South America, Africa. It lives near the water. Male anacondas are bigger than the females. It is one of the largest snake in Amazon forest. It eyes are small compared to its body. It has a lot of sharp teeth in its mouth. Its teeth are not used for chewing rather than for holding the prey’s body preventing from its escaping.



It has several species, commonly known as Green anaconda. Its scientific name is  Eunectesmurinus.  Eunectes murinus, commonly known as anaconda’s  biggest species, found in the east of Colombia, Venezuela,  Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Trinidad island and in the Guiana. Another species named Eunectes notaeus is known as yellow anaconda found in Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. It is a small species. Another species named as Eunectes deschauenseei is dark species anaconda found in Brazil and Guiana. Eunectes beniensis is a special species of anaconda known as Bolivian anaconda is found in Bolivia.



It is mainly hunting its prey by creating very strong coils surrounding the prey’s body until its death. It normally hunts monkey, tapir, deer, rabbit and various kinds of birds. Sometimes it hunts the human if it is large enough. Its mouth is small comparing to its body. But it can eat anything 2 or 3 times bigger than its body. Earlier it is said that it is a non venomous snake, it is hunting through constriction. Its length can be up to 30 to 45 feet(10 meter). Normally it remains very calm, but when it becomes hungry it can be very dangerous. After taking male once it took rest for 4 to 5 weeks. In this period anaconda’s body become smaller a little bit. Anaconda’s stomach is very powerful. It can diet anything even bones. The most interesting thing is that anaconda is the member of boa constrictor family. Anacondas another favorite male is aquatic animals like fish. From the history it is found that anaconda often eat caymans and even jaguars. Most times anaconda is living in the water, hunting aquatic creatures. It is shy in nature most of them cannot be found in available. 

People are more curious about this snake nowadays. Different TV channels such as Discovery, National Geographic channel, Animal Kingdom etc are publishing many informative programmed about this snake. It is hoped that more information about this snake would be found in the near future.
